Storm drain cleaning FAQs

Common questions about drainage maintenance.

What is the difference between a catch basin and a storm drain?

A catch basin collects surface runoff and often traps sediment. Storm drain systems convey water through connected structures and pipes.

How often should catch basins be cleaned?

Frequency varies with tree cover, sediment load, traffic and rainfall. Regular inspections help determine a schedule.

Can you clean catch basins in parking lots?

We can discuss commercial parking areas and other accessible drainage structures based on site conditions.

Will cleaning prevent all flooding?

No. Cleaning removes obstructions and sediment but cannot eliminate flooding from undersized drainage, extreme rainfall or other system issues.
